Signing up for Retrium - Start Here!

When you first use Retrium, there are a few options to get started. You can:

  • Sign up through our website to create a free trial account
  • Accept an email invitation from someone else and join their existing Organization
  • Create a free trial account after you've already joined Retrium (and are a member of someone else's Organization)

Creating a 30-day trial account from our website

If you want to create a free, 30-day, unlimited trial account of Retrium to test it in your company, you’ll want to follow these steps to sign up and create an Organization.

This option is best when:

  • you're the first in your company to try Retrium,
  • you want to be responsible for inviting the first few people from your team,
  • you want to administer the account, or
  • you're just testing things out.

Here's how to get started with your free trial:

1. From the homepage, click "Try it for free!"

2. You'll need to add your email address and choose a password to sign up. Please use your work email, as gmail, yahoo, and others are not considered valid.

3. You'll then be asked to verify your email to begin using the software.

4. Click on the link from your email to verify your identity.

5. You'll be asked to answer a few basic questions about your retrospectives and will create an Organization to get started with Retrium.

6. The last step in this process is to create your first Team Room, and once you've finished, it will take you to the page for the Team Room, where you can add members to your Team Room and run retrospectives together.

There's not much to see or do in Retrium without inviting others or creating a Team Room, so you'll definitely want to take these steps to get the full Retrium experience.

As a final note, you can always be invited to join another Retrium Organization after you sign up through the website. You would receive an email invitation and follow the steps in the invitation to accept it, but you'll be able to use the same login and password for multiple Organizations.

Joining someone else's trial or paid account through an email invitation

If someone else in your company has set up a trial or paid account with Retrium, you won't need to sign up through the website. Instead, any member of the Organization or a Team Room can send you an invitation to join the Retrium trial or Retrium paid account. You can sign up and accept the invitation right from your email.

This option is best when:

  • you've been invited to an existing Organization or Team Room
  • you just want to participate in retrospectives
  • someone else already has an Organization for your company
  • you don't want to upgrade the account for your company

To join via an invitation, just follow the steps below:

1. You’ll receive an email invitation to join the Organization, so you just need to click on the link to accept it.

2. From there you can sign up with an email and password, login via SSO (if your company has this feature as part of a Retrium Enterprise subscription), or sign in with your existing Retrium credentials (if you already have an account).

3. You’ll then be asked to verify your email if you haven't done so yet.

4. Once this is complete, you can join Team Rooms, invite others to your company’s Organization within Retrium (if you have permission to do so), or participate in a retrospective.

Creating a 30-day free trial from an existing Retrium account

Once you sign up for Retrium, you can also create your own trial Organization for another company, a side project, or any other type of group if you've never had a free trial account. You’ll then be able to test out Retrium within that Organization for 30 days.

This option is best when:

  • you want to start another paid Organization, separate from the one that already exists
  • you want to test Retrium with a different group of people, outside of your company

To create a trial from inside your existing Retrium account:

1. Navigate to the "user settings" menu in the top right corner of the application, and click on the button to create a new free trial. If this button is unavailable, it means you have already used your one free trial account.

2. This will open the menu to answer a few questions and set up your new Organization.

3. The last step of the process enables you to create your first Team Room, so you can get started running retrospectives quickly.

4. Once you create your Team Room, you'll likely want to add new members by using the "plus" icon near the members list.
